GV II

House. Probably circa late C17 with C20 rear extension. Roughcast stone rubble. Thatched roof with half hipped ends. Gable end stacks, right hand end projects and has a slate weathered set-off, and an axial stack to right of centre; all with rendered shafts. Plan: 3-room plan. The ground is higher at the right end. The end rooms are heated from gable end stacks and the centre room has an axial stack at the right hand end. It is not certain whether there was ever a passage between the left and centre rooms but there is now direct entry into the centre room at the front. The right may be a later addition; according to the owner it was formerly a stable with a loft above. In the late C20 a staircase was built at the left hand end of the central room and a single storey addition was built at the back. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4 window range. Al late C20 2 and 3- light casements without glazing bars. The doorway to the left of centre has a C20 plank door and a C20 lean-to porch. At the back a late C20 flat-roof single storey extension. Interior: Light scantling closely-spaced chamfered ceiling beams. C20 staircase missing from centre room which has a fireplace at the opposite right end with a rough timber lintel. Roof: The roof space was not inspected, but one principal with a straight foot is exposed at the first floor.
