SX 55 NE SPARKWELL LEDGATE LANE 10/135 Moor Bridge
II
Cart track bridge over railway line. Circa 1848. Coursed stone rubble with elliptical arch with granite ashlar voussoirs, stringcourse and granite coping to parapet. The South Devon Railway was authorised in 1844. This section from Totnes to Lairs (in Plymouth) was opened in 1848. The South Devon Company was dissolved in 1878, but the great Western Railway took over 2 years earlier in 1878. The broad gauge was replaced in 1892.
