Details
NEWTON ST CYRES THE VILLAGE SX 89 NE 5/37 Nos. 51, 52 and 53 - 26.8.65 GV II
Row of 3 cottages. Probably C18, modernised circa 1975. Cob walls with stone footings. Brick stacks exposed above thatched roof. Long 2-storey building, 1- room deep. Each has a different 2-room plan. No. 53 has large, projecting cob stack to rear. Gable stacks and axial stack between Nos. 51 and 52. Roof hipped at each end. Balanced fenestration of C20 iron and wooden casements. The central 6 windows are set higher. Irregularity of cottages suggests that they were built at different dates, or were the result of the C18 sub-division of a larger building. Included for group value.
