Details

SS 4836-4936 BRAUNTON EAST STREET (west side) Braunton 12/84 - Myrtle Farm Cottage

- II

House, formerly farmhouse, probably C17. Rubble rendered in upper parts and to surrounds of ground floor openings. Thatch roof with table end brick stacks. Originally 3-cell plan built gable-end to street with large lateral rubble stone hall stack at front. Brick shaft is presumably later. C20 fenestration. 4 window range of first floor C19 sashes with pointed shape to thatch over blank windowheads, ground floor replaced by C20 casements. Interior much altered. Heavily patched Cl7 roof principals with trenched purlins. Cob partition in roof space suggests C18/C19 division of farmhouse into 2 dwellings.
