Details
ST 01 SE UFFCULME CLAY LANE 4/162 Hill Head Farmhouse II Farmhouse. Dated 1807. Roughcast cob on a stone footings; gable end slate roof. A small 2-room, central passage plan house, with lower flanking ranges, that to the left probably originally the dairy and now a kitchen, that to the right a storage area that forms the end of a range of farmbuildings that returns to enclose a small farmyard to the rear of the house; the stairs occupy the rear of the central passage. End stacks with brick shafts. 2 storeys. Exterior Front: the main house and flanking ranges form a symmetrical range, the house taller, and projecting slightly. House a 3 window range; 16-pane hornless sash windows to first floor. Central door, panelled and quarter glazed set in a elliptical arch; porch with 2 simple turned posts with capitals. 16-pane hornless sash window to either side. Flanking ranges each with one pointed 2-light casement window to both floors with debased Y-head tracery. Rear: pointed window similar to those described, with datestone above. Outshut. Interior: present kitchen with axial ceiling beam, shallow chamfer and run-out stops.
