4/258 Barn and shippon approximately - 25m south of Forder Farmhouse
GV II
Barn and shippon. C17. Large blocks of roughly-dressed granite (almost ashlar) with some granite stone rubble patching; corrugated iron roof (formerly thatch). Plan and description: threshing barn with adjoining shippon facing north-east. The barn has central opposing doorways to the threshing floor, the front one full height for double doors, the rear one smaller. The shippon is on the right (north-west) end, its roof continuous with that of the barn. It contains a doorway with hayloft loading hatch directly over and a window to the right. Granite rubble leanto sheds have been built in front of the barn, the left one once open-fronted and its roof supported by monolithic granite posts. The main roof is gable-ended. Hayloft beams in both shippon and barn are roughly-finished and waney in places. The roof still contains some original A-frame trusses of large scantling and with pegged lap-jointed collars but those towards the left end are C20 replacements.
