The Pimple
II
Reservoir entrance. 1914, by Sir Edwin Lutyens, for the Duke of Bedford. Hurdwick stone Delabole slate tetrahedral roof with finial, bellcast, and moulded wooden eaves cornice. Triangular on plan. Circular plan plinth forming segmental sears on the three sides. Doorway on one side. This little building was built over the entrance on top of a reservoir on Whitchurch Down, which served Bedford estate houses and a house called Littlecourt [1910-1941], also designed by Lutyens.
