Details
HATHERLEIGH SS 50 NW 3/8 Fishleigh Down Farmhouse and - adjoining barn to east GV II Farmhouse. C17 possibly with earlier origins and C18 addition. Plastered rubble and cob walls with some rebuilding in concrete blocks; exposed rubble to adjoining barn. Thatched roof gabled at left end hipped to right end. Rendered rubble stack at left gable end and rendered brick axial stack. Plan: original plan not entirely clear, possibly 2-room plan, left-hand room heated by end stack, with axial stack inserted later into right-hand room. Barn at right- hand end probably added in C18. Exterior: 2 storeys with 1 storey barn at right-hand end. Asymmetrical 3-window front of C20 2-light casements. C20 gabled porch to left of centre with plank door behind. Barn at right end has cart entrance at its left-hand end and 2 windows to the right. Leanto against its right-hand end under catslide roof. C20 leanto against left-hand end of house. Interior: inaccessible at time of survey but may contain features of interest including the roof structure.
