HUNTSHAW SS52SW 8/114 Huntshaw Water and attached outbuildings II Inn, now house. C17; remodelled c. 1840, when first floor and attached outbuilding added. Colourwashed render over stone and cob, probably brick to first floor. Gabled slate roof; C20 brick end stacks; C17 external stone lateral stack to left of front door; lateral stack to rear has been truncated. 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. 3-window range to left has timber lintels over central C20 plank door, and late C19 two-light casements with glazing bars; window to right is set in blocked C17 doorway. Lower one-window range to right has mid C19 plank door set in beaded frame and late C19 two-light casements with glazing bars. Two mid C19 outshuts added to rear. Interior: slate-flag floor to room on left. Boxed beams in rooms to left and centre, and chamfered beam noted to right. Room to left has chamfered bressummer with cusped stop over open fireplace with window to rear and C19 pothook. Central room has chamfered bressummer over open fireplace against rear wall. C19 plank doors, and C17 plank door with strap hinges to left. C17 doorway to rear of left room; blocked doorway adjoins central fireplace. Bay to right not inspected. Subsidiary features: outbuildings of c. 1840 attached to left, of coursed stone rubble, rendered to front, with gabled pantile roof. Grouped as L-plan with stable to right (nearest house) and looseboxes along road to left. Stable has C19 loft door above stable door with chamfered ribs to left and plank stable door to right; stable door to looseboxes.
