BEAFORD EXETER ROAD (north-east side), SS 5515 Beaford
20/47 Reeds Cottage - GV II
House. Early C19, with late C20 alterations and addition. Rendered, probably over stone rubble or cob. Gable-ended scantle-slate roof. Brick stack. Plan: Two-room central-entrance plan, consisting of principal room to left with external end stack at left-hand end and front entrance to right of centre, and smaller unheated room to right. Entrance passage with staircase at rear (wall between passage and left-hand room removed in the late C20). Late C20 addition at rear. Two storeys. Exterior: Irregularly-spaced 3-bay front; early C19 glazing bar sashes (each leaf of 3 x 2 panes) with beaded boxes. Roughly central C20 half-glazed 4-panelled door (possibly replacing similar C19 door). Interior: C19 four-panelled door between former entrance passage and right-hand ground-floor room. First floor rooms and roofspace not inspected.
