Details
ROBOROUGH ROBOROUGH SS 5717 19/185 No 3, Town Tenement - GV II
Cottage and adjoining former outbuilding. Late C17 or early C18 cottage and probably C19 outbuilding, converted into domestic accommodation in the late C20. Rendered stone cottage with gable-ended wheatstraw thatched roof. Rendered end stack with red brick shaft. Rendered stone and cob outbuilding (formerly with weatherboarded front) with gable-ended Welsh-slate roof. Plan and development: Late C17 or early C18 one-room plan cottage, facing east (ground falls to left), with external end stack to right and entrance at front to left. Lower former outbuilding adjoining to left, converted to domestic accommodation in the late C20 when the front wall was rebuilt, the verandah was added and the attic rooms were inserted. One storey and attic. Exterior: Cottage has a ground-and first-floor C19 two-light wooden casement to right, with gable over attic window. Doorway to left with C20 half-glazed door, C19 beaded wooden frame and slate-roofed gabled porch with pierced barge boards. Former outbuilding on left has a large C20 raking dormer, 4 ground-floor C20 two-light wooden casements, central pair of C20 half-glazed doors and a C20 glazed lean-to verandah. Interior not inspected. The cottage faces onto a courtyard (probably a former farmyard), opposite Nos. 1 and 2, Town Tenement (q.q.v.)
