6/27 Nether Hoff farmhouse 6.2.68 II*
Previously listed in Colby Parish. Farmhouse; 1683 with later alterations. Coursed, squared rubble with quoins and plinth; rendered to sides and rear. Graduated slate roof with stair outshut to rear; 3 corniced stone chimneys to ridge (to ends and right of centre). 2-storey, 4-bay front. To left of centre, panelled door in architrave has triangular initialled and dated panel above (G. & I.B. 1683). 4 mullioned windows to each floor, all 3-light except that to right of door (4-light); sills of contemporary single-light attic windows are incorporated in centre of lintels to 1st floor windows (except that above door). Part of original moulded cornice survives above inserted door on west side (return along south wall hidden by lean-to addition). Small window in chamfered surround to left of door and 2 Cl9 sashes to 1st floor. 2-light mullioned window in chamfered surround (with hoodmould) to attic; of 3 similar windows to rear (with cornices) ground floor right and 1st floor have lost their mullions. Other windows Cl9 (some in chamfered stone surrounds). Internally, 3-flight dog-leg stair has square, corniced, newels with ball finials; closed string with stout, turned, balusters and square moulded handrail. Original panelled cupboard to right in stair-well. 4 upper cruck pairs rest on wall plate at level of lintels to 1st floor windows.
