Details

ST GORAN CANTON (north side), Gorran Haven SX 0041 0141 5/90 The Cellar - GV II

House. Circa late C17-early C18, with C19 and C20 alterations. Rendered stone rubble. Concrete tiled roof with gable ends. Gable end stack at the right end with C20 brick shaft. Plan: One-room plan, with the room for living accommodation at first floor entered from an external stair and heated from a gable end stack. The ground floor was used as a fish cellar, entered from a doorway at the right end. Exterior: 2 storeys; the front has external stone stair leading to a C20 plank door; to left, at upper level there is a late C19 6-pane sash and a small single storey C20 addition. The right end has a chamfered wall; there is a doorway to the cellar with C20 plank door and 2-light C20 window to right. At first floor there is a late C19 6-pane to left and single light 4-pane casement to right. At the rear there are no openings to the cellar; two C20 2-light windows with external shutters at first floor. The left end abuts the adjoining house. Interior: Not inspected.
