LOSTWITHIEL FORE STREET (south side), SX 15 NW Lostwithiel 10/84 Nos 11 and 12 - GV II

House, now with 2 shops at ground floor and 2 houses at upper floors. Circa 1780, with 2 mid C19 shop fronts and later alterations. Rubble with stucco front. Hipped mansard slate roof with brick stacks to left and right side. Double depth plan with central entrance and principal room to front right and left; the stair hall is to rear right, with later C19 service wings to rear right and left. The 2 front principal rooms have both been converted to shops in the mid C19; No 11 includes the central entrance passage. 2 storeys and 5 bays, with rusticated quoins and plain moulded eaves cornice. First floor has 15-pane sashes. Ground floor has central 6-panelled door door with fanlight with splayed glazing bars, pilasters and open pediment. Shop front to left has tiled stall riser with name Liddicoat and floral motif, plate-glass window with half-glazed door to right with toplights, moulded cornice and consoles. Shop front to right has bay broken forward, with panelled stall riser with decorative cast iron ventilation grille, plate-glass windows with central recessed entrance with glazed door; boxed fascia and cornice. Interior No 12 has stair hall to rear, with oval well and lantern above, fine oval open well stair with moulded string and stick balusters, the handrail moulded and ramped with serpentine end. At first floor, all doors are 6-panelled and fielded, with reeded architraves, reeded segmental archways to front and rear. The front room has plaster cornice with moulded flowers, probably early C19. The central entrance passage, now part of No 11, has 2 doorway to right, one formerly leading to front room and one to rear stair hall; both have reeded pilasters and fanlight with splayed glazing bars. Rear door is panelled and half-glazed, with similar fanlight. Stone paved floor.
