House. Probably early C18, extended to left in 2 phases, probably in later C18 and
early C19, with C20 alterations. Slatestone rubble, front and right side rendered,
rear and the left side painted. Half-hipped slurried slate roof with brick stacks
to ends. PLAN: 3 room plan overall, with the 2 rooms to left over a cellar; the
room to right is of the original build, heated by an end stack to right; the house
was extended to left over the cellar, and it appears that the central room at
ground floor was unheated and probably used for storage, with access from an exter-
nal stair to the rear. The end room to left is heated by an end stack. The main
cellar entrance is to the front, where the ground level is lower, and the entrance
into the house is to the room to end right. 2 storeys on cellar, with C20 cellar
doors to left; a ground floor, which is at the upper level to front, 4 C20 2-light
casements, and at first floor 3 C20 2-light casements under the eaves. The right
side has a brick chimney, and curved oven at the base with pitched slate roof. The
left side has a C20 2-light casement at first floor to right. At the rear, there
is a straight joint between each room. The end room to right has ground and first
floor C20 2-light casement. The central room has a cellar door at lower ground
floor level and slatestone rubble steps leading to the blocked opening, formerly
a door with timber lintel. At ground floor a small C20 2-light casement and at
first floor a larger C20 2-light casement. The room to left has door with glazed
panel and pitched slurried slate hood, small single light to left. INTERIOR. Not
accessible at time of survey (July 1986).
