ST COLUMB MAJOR BRIDGE HILL (east side), Bridge SW 9063-9163 17/203 Toll House - GV II

Toll house, now house. Early C19, with alterations of later C19 and C20. Stone rubble; right-hand half slate-hung. Hipped slate roof with ridge tiles. Stack at the left side with brick shaft. Plan: One-room plan, with entrance through a porch to front right, the room to left, heated from a stack at the left side. Small single storey addition of later C19 at the right side. Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical 2-window front. Ground floor has C19 16-pane sash with cambered arch to left. Gabled open-fronted porch to right with plank inner door with glazed panel. Slate-hung to front right and at the right side, with a single storey lean-to at the right side, also slate-hung. First floor front has C19 16-pane pivoted window to left and smaller multi-pane window to right. Left side has 9-pane casement at ground floor to right. At the rear, all slate-hung; small single pane light at ground floor; to left a bowed C19 9-pane light. First floor a single C20 window. Interior: Not inspected.
