GV II
House, now restaurant. Probably late C17 - early C18, with alterations of C19 and
C20 alterations and additions. Rendered stone rubble. Scantle slate roof with ridge
tiles and gable ends. Two rear lateral stacks with brick shafts; front lateral stack
removed.
Plan: 3-room plan, the two outer rooms heated from rear lateral stacks and the
central room formerly heated from a front lateral stack. All partition walls have
been removed internally and it is not clear whether the entrance was originally to a
passage or directly into the central room. There is a blocked doorway at the front
of the room to left, which may at one time have been used as separate accommodation.
C20 addition at the rear.
Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical 4-window front. All windows are C20 2-light 8-
pane casements, except the window at ground floor to left which is a C19 2-light 8-
pane casement. The windows are of varied sizes. Second from left is a C20 glazed
door. The right end is blind. The left end has C19 2-light 5-pane casement at
ground floor to left. At the rear there is a single storey unheated outshut with
asbestos slate roof and small single storey C20 addition.
Interior: C19 ceiling beams at ground floor. At first floor the roof is ceiled,
roof space not accessible. The room to left at ground floor is at higher floor
level, with blocked door to front and with a C20 winder stair to rear left, possibly
the original site of the stair. The central room has fireplace at the front, partly
blocked. Central cupboard recess in the rear wall.
