Details
ST BURYAN SW 42 NE 5/36 Barn at approximately 40 metres - north of Bosliven Farmhouse GV II Barn. Circa early C19, extended circa 1870. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Grouted scantle slate hipped roof. Cast-iron ogee gutters at the front. Plan: Large rectangular barn (granary over shippons built in 2 phases). Original barn (right) has threshing floor, with opposing loading/winnowing doorways, on the left; later barn has central threshing floor. Both barns have old (but not original) stone steps up to their rear doorways. Exterior: 2 storeys. Virtually unaltered 3-window south-east front. 3 original ground floor doorways, 2 first floor loading doorways. 4 original small window openings have C19 shutters with glazed top lights. Interior: Original first floor structure; Cl9 roof structures; old shippon fittings and fittings for hoisting sacks. In 1849 the farmer at Bosliven, John Eddy, is said to have hung himself in this barn.
