Details

SANCREED TREGONEBRIS SW 42 NW 5/313 Barns and adjoining outhouse - immediately north of Tregonebris Farmhouse GV II Barns with cartshed and possibly an earth-closet. Circa mid to late C19. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Partly grouted scantle slate hipped roofs. Plan: L-shaped plan of 2 adjoining barns: a long principal barn with a smaller barn at right angles in front of the left-hand side and a small outhouse, possibly an earth-closet in front of the right-hand side. Principal barn has central threshing floor with opposing first floor loading/winnowing doorways with stone steps up to rear doorway. The smaller barn has a central cartshed and possibly a threshing floor approached by external stone steps, on its right (also leading to doorway into main barn). Exterior: 2 storeys. Unaltered elevations except that some openings are partly blocked. Some old glazed windows and some with original shutters. C20 ledged doors. Nearly symmetrical 2-window south front has central first floor loading doorway. Ground floor doorway left and right of middle and windows at left and right. Smaller barn (east front) has central waggon doorway (partly blocked), doorway at left and right (landing of granite steps forms porch over right-hand doorway) with first floor doorway on the right and window towards the left. Interior not inspected.
