GWINEAR-GWITHIAN GWITHIAN CHURCHTOWN SW 54 SE 1/40 Gwithian Farmhouse -

II Farmhouse. C17 or circa early C18, extended C20. Painted rubble and cob walls with wooden lintels. Wheat reed thatched roof with brick chimneys over the original gable ends. Plan: L-shaped plan plus C20 addition on the left row making an overall T-shaped plan. Originally probably 2 rooms with cross passage or lobby entrance between, probably in the C18 or early C19 a 1-room-plan wing was built behind the left-hand room. There is an outshut projection in front of the left-hand room possibly C20 rebuild or remodelling of a stair, projection. Exterior: 2 storeys with eyebrows to the thatch over the first floor windows. Irregular 3 window east front of original house plus 1 window front of C20 extension on left. Doorway left of middle, possibly resited, C20 ledged door. Wide window right is a C20 3-light casement with glazing bars. C20 12-pane 2-light casements to first floor openings. Rear wing has old 16-pane casement in left hand wall. Interior: not inspected.
