HAYLE MOUNT PLEASANT, Hayle SW 5637-5737 11/142 Nos. 2 and 4, including front - garden walls and gate piers
GV II Pair of houses in row including front garden walls and gate piers. Circa mid C19. Stuccoed front, otherwise painted rubble. Asbestos slate roof with projecting eaves. Brick chimney over party wall, left and over hipped end, right. Cast-iron ogee gutters. Plan: Pair of houses, each house 1 room wide and 2 rooms deep plus later C19 wings at right angles to rear at left and right; reception rooms at the front with entrance halls between leading to rear stair halls. Exterior: 2-storeys. Symmetrical 4 windows north-west front with pair of doorways in the middle. Stucco plinths, rusticated quoin strips and similar rustications with flat arches to the doorways. Original 4-panel doors with overlights and original 12-pane hornless sashes. Rear has original hornless sashes with glazing bars to larger right hand wing and 1 original stair window with coloured marginal panes. Interior: Not inspected. Possibly retains its original features and joinery. Garden walls surround shallow garden at the front with pair of entrances aligned with the doorways of the houses. Ramped coped rubble walls at either side with stuccoed panels at the front. Lower front wall with plinth and plain stucco above. Gatepiers are 3 round-headed granite monoliths.
