House. Circa early C18, extended in mid C18. Stone rubble. Slate roof with gable
ends. Stone rubble end stack on left.
Plan: Originally probably of two room plan, with entrance to right of centre, the
right hand room unheated and the hall-kitchen on left heated by an end stack.
Extended with a two-room plan wing to rear right in mid C18.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical two-window front. Entrance porch to right of
centre, stone rubble with dressed granite round arch. Plank door within. Plank door
to right and C20 2-light casememt to left and two similar casements on first floor.
Interior: Not inspected.
Home of Digory and Elizabeth Isbel of Trewint. John Nelson's Cornish Journey
records how Nelson and Downes, two early Methodist preachers, were welcomed and
entertained by Digory and Elizabeth Isbell. In the mid C19 a small wing was added
to the rear of the cottage to provide further accommodation. Wesley preached at
Trewint 2 April 1744.
