BLISLAND BLISLAND SX 07 SE 8/50 Churchtown Cottage (previously listed as House and Small House 6.6.69 adjoining the Royal Oak Inn)
GV II
House and small cottage, converted to form 1 house. House of circa mid C17, partly remodelled in circa mid C18, possibly contemporary with the addition of the small cottage on the right hand end. Stone rubble with rag slate roof with hipped ends. Cottage to right with slate roof, hipped on left and gable end on right. Projecting stone rubble lateral stack to rear left. Plan: House of 2 room and probably through passage plan, the left hand room heated by a projecting rear lateral stack and the right hand room originally heated by end stack. In circa mid C18 the house was extended with outshots across rear and probably with a small cottage of 1 room plan on the right hand end. In circa C19 and early C20 the house was partly used as a shop. In circa mid C20 the cottage to right was incorporated as part of the house, the ground floor used as a garage. Exterior: 2 storeys. 3:1 window regular front. House to left with 2 circa late C19 canted bay windows to far right and left. C20 window to left of centre and C19 6- panel door to right of centre with slate surround and slate hood. Above are 3 20- pane sashes renewed in C20. The former cottage to right has a 12-pane sash on the first floor and garage doors on the ground floor. Interior: not inspected. House situated on north side of village green.
