GV II
Public house. Probably C18, remodelled and extended circa early C19. Stuccoed walls, granite sills. L-shaped-on-plan scantle slate roof with rounded corner. Brick chimney over either hipped end, axial chimney just behind corner of ridge; hipped asbestos slate roof over stair at rear middle and lean-to in the angle. Irregular L-shape plan with bowed outer corner. Probably originally a 2-rooms wide double-depth plan with central cross passage leading to stair in small rear wing. Extended in circa the early C19 with a 1-room plan addition on the left and slightly on the right with a wing at an angle to this at the rear, and finally by a lean-to on the left hand side of the rear wing clasping the corner of the stair wing. 2 storeys. The regular 4-window entrance front faces east onto the road to the left hand side; the right hand return, a regular 2-window front faces roughly north and a wide ground and first floor tripartite bowed window forms the corner. The left hand bay of the entrance front is probably an early C19 extension, so the other 3 bays form the original symmetrical 3-window front with a central doorway. C20 door, but all the windows are circa early C19 16-pane hornless sashes. The bowed windows have sidelights. The stair window at the rear, also circa early C19 has round-headed fanlight sash. Interior not inspected.
