5/36 Lower Tregontallon - II

Cottage. Circa mid C19, extended later in C19 and altered in C20. Limewashed granite rubble with dressed granite lintels and cills. Grouted scantle slate roof with gabled ends. Brick stacks at gable ends. Plan: Rectangular plan with lower ground level to right. 2 rooms wide, the right hand room is the full depth of the house and it is heated from a gable end stack. To the left the house is 2 rooms deep with direct entry into the front room; the left hand gable end stack probably serves both the left hand rooms. There is a later C19 outshut on the left hand end of the house. Probably in the C20 a doorway and lobby were inserted at the centre at the back between the 2 rooms. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2 window range. On the ground floor a plank door to the left and a late C19 12-pane sash to the right. On the first floor a late C19 12-pane sash over the doorway to the left. The lean to outshut on the left end has a blind front wall. Symmetrical 2- window rear elevation with C20 4-pane sashes and a C20 porch at the centre. Interior: Not inspected.
