9/237 Church of Saint Michael -
GV II
Anglican church. Circa 1872. Roughly coursed slate rubble with freestone and granite dressings. Dry Delabole slate roofs with gable ends, slightly projecting, verges and eaves with exposed rafter ends. Dressed stone chimney with fish scale slates and pair of round shafts. Plan: Nave/chancel under one roof with canted end to slightly narrower chancel; organ and heated vestry transept north of the chancel and south porch at the west end of the nave. Gothic style. Exterior: Unaltered elevations with chamfered plinth, diagonal corner buttresses and buttresses dividing the bays; 3-light traceried west window with clock face and corbelled bell-cote over south doorway with inner, pointed arch, traceried 2-light chancel. Original planked door and original leaded glazing to the windows Interior: Virtually unaltered interior has pointed chancel arch and arch-braced and wind braced roof structure. Fittings: Original font, pews and chancel furniture.
