3/28 Anhay Farmhouse - II
Farmhouse. Circa late C18-early C19, extended circa early-mid C19. Shale rubble walls with dressed granite quoins, sills, jambstones and lintels. Asbestos slate roofs with brick chimneys over gable ends. Plan of 2 large rooms, probably parlour, left, and kitchen living room, right, central entrance hall, plus later service wings at right angles to rear left and right, deeper wing at left and forming overall U-shape. 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3 window south east front with original 12-pane horizontal sliding sashes. Wide central doorway with original 6-panel door with top 4 panels later glazed. Rear has mostly original window of horizontal sliding sashes or vertical 12-pane sashes. Interior Remodelled slightly in the C19 for access to wings but very little altered since and retaining much C19 carpentry and joinery detail. Anhay Farmhouse is an unsually unaltered house, both front, rear and sides surviving in their original or C19 form, and is particularly notable for its exceptionally wide front.
