Details
ST AGNES MINGOOSE SW 74 NW 7/167 Mingoose Farmhouse - GV II
Farmhouse. Parts of rear are possibly C17, front built in the C18, extended in the C19. Granite ashlar front, otherwise killas rubble. Some brick arches over openings. Dry Delabole slate roofs. Brick chimneys over the gable ends. Plan: Irregular double-depth plan. C18 front range has 2 large rooms flanking a central entrance hall leading to C19 stair hall behind the right hand; on the right is a slightly larger 1-room-plan wing with former pantry outshut behind; large kitchen in remains of earlier parallel range behind left-hand room and a C19 back kitchen at right angles behind the stair hall. The back kitchen adjoins a thick gable end wall (rear right-hand corner) which is probably the remains of a former parallel range pre-dating the C18 front to the house. C19 lean-to porch in angle between kitchen. Exterior: Symmetrical 5-window south front with central round headed doorway plus 1- window front of later wing set back slightly on the right. Brick arch over doorway. C20 door with plain fanlight. Some original or circa early C19 12-pane hornless sashes with some crown glass, some horned copies. Circa early C19 16-pane sashes to front wing. Other elevations are virtually unaltered since the C19. Interior: Not inspected but said to retain some (probably C18) plaster ceiling cornices and some chimney-pieces.
