ST AGNES QUAY ROAD, SW 75 SW 4/198 The Driftwood Spars - GV II

Public house, originally associated with the mines and later used as sail and net lofts. C18 extended circa early C19. Painted rubble with hardwood lintels over most openings, brick arches over other openings. Grouted scantle slate hipped roofs. Lateral brick chimney over front walls towards left, another chimney over the cross party wall. Plan: 2 rectangular buildings, the older building on lower ground to the left. Exterior: 3 storeys. Virtually unaltered overall 6-window south-west front on 2 levels. Older lower 2-window front, on the left, has central doorway with window on either side, window to each floor above right-hand window and 2 other window openings. Later regular 4-window front, on the right, has wide doorway (possibly originally a window opening later enlarged), left of middle. Ground floor windows are circa late C19 or early C20, the other windows are later, all in original openings. Interior: Original roughly-hewn cross beams and joists and probably original roof structures.
