Lobby -entrance farmhouse, early C17, with C18 single storey rear extension. Timber framed, upper walls tile-hung, lower walls plastered, roof tiled. 4 bays including chimney bay with lobby-entrance and stair. 2 storeys. 3 window range of C19 double-hung sashes. C19 porch. Roof half-hipped at both ends. Stop-chamfered beams. Clasped purlin roof. The newel stair in the entrance lobby, rising to first floor and attics, appears to be original to the building, a fairly rare survival. One C17 wrought iron casement window, incomplete, in rear of middle ground floor room. Moated site (RCHM 13, Great Dunmow.)
