Milestone, 1764-1785. Granite. Rectangular ashlar post with rounded head. Incised
with black painted lettering with serifs giving distance to Callington. Inscribed
3½

Bench mark below.
The Callington Turnpike Trust set up in 1764 by act 4 Geo III C48, was responsible
for the road continuing 'by Brendon's Tree over Viverdon Down, through St Mellyan to
Penter's Cross'. Route extended to Botus Fleming in 1785.
