House. Circa late C17 range at lower end extended in circa 1780s with main range. Main range built for Captain Rowett a sea captain. Rendered and painted stone rubble with stone quarried from adjoining land. Slate roof with gabled ends to lower C17 range with hipped ends to C18 range. Large projecting stone rubble chimney stack with brick shaft on lower gable end and rendered brick chimney stack on hipped end at junction of C17 and C18 range. Projecting stone rubble chimney stack with set-offs and brick shaft on higher hipped end.
The late C18 part has two principal rooms and central entrance hall containing stairs at the rear. Attached to lower left-hand end is one-room plan range which is all that remains of the C17 house later remodelled when the late C18 range was built.
Late C18 three-storey three-window range to right with ground and first floor 12-pane sashes, and second floor smaller two-light casements with glazing bars. Sash on ground floor right has glazing bars removed. Central doorway with C20 gabled and glazed porch with casement windows. Second doorway to right, with C20 glazed door, originally a window. Remodelled C17 range to left, a two-storeys two-window range with 12-pane sashes.
Interior intact with original doors throughout C18 range. Decorative ceiling rose in lower room. C19 chimney pieces, higher gable end with Delft tiles. Moulded rail to stair with balustrade removed. C18 cupboard in lower room. Chest in attic storey where Capt Rowett kept his papers. Roof timbers boxed in. Information from owners.
