House now 2 cottages. Circa late C17. Painted and rendered stone rubble with slate
roof with gabled ends. Stone rubble chimney stack on left-hand gable end. Probably
originally a 2-room and cross passage plan but now two 1-room plan cottages with
entrances on either side of Mermaid Cottage (qv) a later wing projecting from front.
Mermaid Cottage was probably added when the original 2-room house was subdivided into
2 cottages.
3 storeys, regular 3-window front. Cottage on left approached by flight of steps
leading up to entrance with part glazed door with slate hood. C20 2-light casement
with glazing bars above. To right, 3-storey elevation of The Court with 4-panelled
door partly glazed beneath timber lintel with slate hood. 2-light casement without
glazing bars on first and second floors.
Interior not accessible.
Reputed by Jonathan Couch to be one of the oldest houses in Polperro.
