5/61 Lime Kiln north of Kilna
Quay at SX 351 599

Limekiln. Circa late C18. Slatestone rubble.
Plan: Roughly square plan kiln. Built into the bank at the rear for top
loading, with the right side also built into the bank. About 20 metres by 8
metres, containing 2 circular kilns.
Round arch to the left of the front leading to a vaulted interior with a
stoke hole to the rear; circular kiln, open to the roof, with 2 further
chambers beyond. The right side has similar round arch, leading to the rear
kiln. Not fully accessible at time of survey (August 1986).
