PARISH OF ILKESTON PARK CRESCENT SK 44 SE 3/51 (North Side) Cemetery Chapels GV II

Pair of cemetery chapels. 1910 by A J Kilford, the Borough Surveyor. Late C13 gothic style. Coursed squared rock-faced limestone with gritstone dressings. Welsh slate roofs with decorative ridge stack. Double chamfered plinth and moulded stringcourse. Pair of gabled chapels linked by passages to central carriageway with tower and spire above. South elevation. Central double chamfered gothic archway, the inner order on corbels. Flanked by angle buttresses. 2-light Dec style bell-opening above. Quatrefoil frieze above and four crocketed pinnacles. Hexagonal stone spire with a band of quatrefoils at half height. Short passageways on either side have single lancets with hoodmoulds. Steeply gabled chapels have angle buttresses and large 5-light windows with geometrical tracery. Small quatrefoils in circles above. Similar 5-light windows to north. The side elevations have steeply gabled porches and cusped 2-light windows.
