3/8 Landwarnick - II
Farmhouse. Circa early C17 with circa late C17 rear wing and remodelling. Stone rubble, painted and partly rendered. Cement-washed scantle slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble projecting chimney stacks. Large gable end stack at higher end with set-offs and brick chimney shaft. Lower range at right angles with large gable ends stacks with cloam oven projection to rear kitchen wing and stack asymmetrically placed in front gable end. Plan altered and original arrangement uncertain. Straight joints have been covered and the roof structure sealed. Probably 2 room and through passage with higher end heated by a gable end stack and lower end by front lateral stack. Kitchen wing added to rear to form L-shaped plan. Remodelled with rear wing and lower end forming range with gabled ends and front lateral stack becoming gable end stack. Plan remodelled in C19 with wide entrance hall with through passage retained and C19 stair added. The thick stone wall on the passage side of the lower room indicates further alterations. Outshut added to rear in angle of main range with rear kitchen wing. 2 storeys, asymmetrical 2-window front. Projecting stack to left asymmetrically placed in gable end of remodelled cross wing. To right of stack, plank door with gabled early C20 partly rendered and glazed porch. C19 4-light casements with glazing bars to right below slatehood, possibly in opening for earlier mullion window. Above, late C19 2-light and 3-light casements. Remodelled rear wing with gabled ends, 2 storeys, regular 2-window front with C19 16-pane sashes. Interior Unaltered C19 interior with joinery complete. C20 chimney piece to fireplace at higher end. Rear kitchen wing with heavy, slightly chamfered ceiling beams. First floor not inspected. Roof structure sealed by plaster ceilings and not inspected. Domesday manor of Lanwarnic, held by Alric from the Count before and after 1066. Lanwarnick is a noteable example of its type with an unspoilt C19 interior.
