Chapel now school. 1872 erected in memory of Rev. J Buller Kitson and converted to
school in 1960s. Stone rubble with freestone dressings and steeply pitched slate
roof with gable end on left (liturgical west) and canted end on right (liturgical
east). Bellcote containing bell and brick chimney stack on west gable end.
Plan; single-cell chapel with apsidal liturgical east end and late C19 or early C20
cross wing addition at liturgical west end connected by small porch.
Single-storey regular elevations with fenestration largely intact. South elevation
with gabled stone rubble entrance porch on left with moulded brick arch and C19 door
within and 6-light mullion and transom window to right with cusped headed lights.
East end originally with 5 lancet windows with form of plate tracery with trefoil
over trefoil-headed light; 1 replaced by C20 door in enlarged opening. North
elevation with 4-light and 2-light mullion and transom windows with cusped headed
lights. Circa late C19/C20 cross wing on west connected to converted chapel by low
porch. Rendered with slate roof with gable ends.
Interior with many of fittings intact including doors and memorial plaque. Original
ornate open timber roof with wind braces.
Previous school and school house at Leyland converted to Morval Memorial Hall and
private house in 1965 (qv Memorial Hall and the old School House, Leyland).
