Town Hall. 1821 (on site of former toll booth). 2nd floor added 1870. Dressed sandstone, hipped and gabled Welsh slate roof, stone gable copings and kneelers and ball finials to north gable. 4 stacks (east truncated). Bands between floors. 3 storeys, 5 bays to N. and S. elevations: symmetrical. Pilasters between 1st and 2nd and 4th and 5th bays supporting narrow simple moulded cornice, surmounted on north elevation, by shallow gable with cartouche bearing the arms of the Chaloner family. 3-bay segmental arcade to ground floor, with recessed mid C.19 3-light sashes with glazing bars. Sash windows with glazing bars to first floor. Round-headed windows to 2nd floor with sashes and casements with gothic glazing bars. End elevations (E. and W.) divided into 3 bays by pilasters supporting eaves cornice and shallow gable bearing oval plaque with date: "1870". Central doorway, central sash window with glazing bars to first floor, 2 round-headed windows with sashes and casements, to centre bay on 2nd floor.
