Farmhouse : mid C17 with mid C19 alterations to the front. White-washed coursed squared buff sandstone rubble with stone and brick dressings. Welsh slate roof and 4 blue brick chimneys, 3-storey, 4-bay front. Windows are 4-pane horned sashes in rough brick reveals, some with chamfered stone heads. Massive C17 chamfered stone doorcase in th 3rd bay, now contains a glazed door. Flat stone-coped gables and kneelers. The side walls have projecting rubble bands at 1st and 2nd floors. Interior: All partition walls have timber small framing with plastered infill. Lower storey ceiling beams are chamfered with flat stops. Dogleg staircase has a moulded handrail, square newels and flat, serpentine balusters. Exposed roof structure indicates the front was originally twin-gabled. John Wesley stayed and preached here when he first came to Macclesfield in 1745.
