Details

NEWBOLD ASTBURY C.P. THE GREEN SJ 86 SW 4/52 Greenbank 14/2/1967 GV II

House, now post office. Early C18. Red English garden wall bond brick with ashlar dressings and a C20 tile roof. Two storeys with attic. The entrance front has ashlar quoins to the corners and an ashlar string course between the ground and first floors, is of 4 bays and has at centre a doorway with a moulded and lugged ashlar surround containing a C20 glazed door. To right of this is a C20 segmental bowed oriel shop-window which overlays the 2 original window openings and at left is a 3-light C20 metal-framed window which also overlays two original window openings. To the first floor are two blocked lateral lights with flat-arched heads and nearest the centre are two sash windows with similar heads but with C19 ashlar sills. Above is a string course dividing this floor from the attic which has three 3-light casement windows of C20 date. To the roof is a central velux light. Chimney stack to left hand gable end.
