HURLESTON C.P. LLANGOLLEN BRANCH OF THE SJ 65 NW SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL 1/76 Hurleston Lock No.3 - GV II
Canal lock, circa 1805 by J.Fetcher, Engineer. (Consultant T.Telford). Engineering bricks in English Bond with metal and wood gates. The upper single gate (west) is metal, the lower pair are of wood with wooden beams. Sandstone dressing to lock approach walls but some of the lock-side edging blocks now replaced by concrete blocks. One of the cast-iron winding gear posts appears to be original.
