Details

POOLE C.P. SJ 65 NW 1/80 Poole Farm House 12 January 1967 - II

Farmhouse, of early C19 appearance with C20 alterations and additions but with mid C17 origins. Red brick in Flemish Bond with machine tile roof to facade and older tiles at rear. 2 storeys, 3 bays. The 4-bay C20 rear wing completes a "T" shaped plan. Corner pilasters with half brick deep projection and 3-course-deep band at first floor level. C20 fully glazed door, fronted by large half glazed C20 gabled porch with side door. Large aluminium casements replace the original sashes. Gable end stacks and barge boards. The rear wing also has C20 aluminium or wood windows. Interior: In the Entrance Hall there is a C17 6-panel oak door and there are also Georgian 6-panel softwood doors. There are two bevelled beams and an inglenook beam in the Lounge. The stairs are oak with cut and bracketed string turned balusters and newel posts. There are six-panel oak doors at first floor level.
