Details

BOSTOCK C.P. (Off) BOSTOCK ROAD SJ 66 NE 5/15 Engine House (formerly listed as C18 farm building (with cupola) about about 110 metres north 23.4.81 of Bostock Hall). GV II Stable building now engine house. C18 with C19 additions and alterations. Red English garden wall bond brick having stucco dressings and slate roof and timber cupola to top with lead roof. Two storeys, square plan. Plain walls to ground floor with C19 outshuts adjoining to all sides. Basket arch to western side. North front: first floor has rendered projecting quoins to corners. Stuccoed band between floors and at level of springing of central slightly recessed round-headed arch which has ashlared voussoirs and keystone. Two-light inserted window resting on lower bond. Keyed oval blind oculus to arch tympanum. Pyramidal roof with cupola to centre which has louvred lower body and ogee-shaped octagonal dome with weather vane. West and south faces are similar save for the lack of the lower 2-light window. East face: blind Diocletian window to centre without stuccoed voussoirs. Keystone on oval oc ulus.
