Mansion circa 1760 brown brick with slate roof, 2½ storey and base- ment. 5 bay N.E. entrance front 7 bay N.W. canal front. Stone Doric doorcase with open pediment, 6 panel entrance door and patterned arched fanlight. Entrance front has rustications up to ground floor level. Stone bands at first and second floor sill level and eaves cornice with brick parapet above. Recessed sash windows with glazing bars. The N.W. front has a three window splay bay. Hipped roof with lead rolls. Interior panelled shutters to windows and six panel doors. The house was an occasional residence of the Duke of Bridgewater during the construction of the Bridgewater Canal.
