Details
TL 2886-2986 TL 2885-2985 RAMSEY HIGH STREET 11/19 13/19 (south side) No 31 (The Gables) GV II*
Medieval hall with 2 cross-wings, of 3 building periods, with an early C19 rear extension, and later single-storey extensions to the east of the street facade. Two storeys. Timber-framed, cased in C19 gault brick. Plain tile gable roofs, steeply pitched. Tall ridge stack and end stack to rear of east cross-wing. Street facade has pierced and shaped barge boards with finials. Stone hood moulds to 2-light casement windows with glazing bars, chamfered reveals, and stone sills. Canted 4-light bay window with plain tile roof to hall.
Interior: has exposed timber-framed indicating that the east wing predates the C15 hall and is of a possible early C14 date; the west cross-wing is late C16. Three ingle nook hearths.
