Pair of villas. Mid-late C19. Incised stucco with stucco
detail; dry slate hipped roof over moulded eaves entablature,
and narrow wings set back with pedimented ends with oculae;
dormers with segmental pediments; central axial stack.
Double-depth plan with narrow wings set back at far left and
right, each house with 1 room at the front and the entrance
halls are at left and right.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic over basement; overall
symmetrical 4-window front. C20 casements replacing original
sashes. Stucco detail includes channelled rustication to
ground floor including 2 canted bays with moulded cornices,
linked to string and surmounted by turned balustrades.
Pilastered doorways at left and right with moulded hoods on
consoles; overlights, and original 4-panel door to No.8
(right).
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: low rubble road-frontage walls with
limestone copings and 3 chamfered and panelled gate-piers with
plinths and moulded caps.
Included for group value as part of a fine planned group.
