Details

TL 4646 DUXFORD THE GREEN (South Side) 15/55 No. 1 (The Manor) II House. Late C15 and early C16 with late C16 rebuilding and C19 and C20 alteration and renovation. Timber-framed with plaster infill and plastered, C19 painted brick casing. Plain tiled roofs; rear C16 stack and C19 ridge stack to left hand. Two storeys; hall range and two cross wings with lower range or original outbuilding to north-west. Crosswing to east late C15 and to west possibly early C16, hall and cross passage rebuilt in late C16. C20 door in lean-to to right hand and glazed door to left hand. One three-light first floor casement window and three first floor and three ground floor hung sash windows. Interior: Exposed timber-frame and floor-frame (with roll-moulded axial beam to hall) show clearly the different building periods and former plan. Four-centred arched door head to east crosswing, and shutter rebates to windows. Resited moulded window mullions. Large open hearth with chamfered mantel beam, chamfered brick arches to two inglenooks and two niches (qv Robinettes. Green Street). Brick arched first floor fireplace.
