15/151 No. 26 (Westlyne House) 22.11.67 GV II

House. Mid C18 house. Timber-framed and plastered with high, painted brick plinth. Plain tiled roof. End stacks. Two storeys with attics and cellar. Large plaster panels, and coved eaves cornice. Main entrance approached by two stone steps to six-panelled door with rectangular fanlight, one flush framed twelve-paned hung sash window to left hand and large three-light hung sash window to right hand. Similar but smaller fenestration at first floor. Two gabled attic windows. Interior: Original C18 doors to first floor rooms, early C19 half panelled room to left hand. Some C17 oak panels in passage. No 26 with No 28 became 'The Red Lion Inn' c.1685 - owned by the Webbs in c.1720 and in early C19 became a posting inn.
