Details
MELBOURN HIGH STREET TL 3844 (North west side) 24/157 No. 66 and outbuildings 28.6.84 to the rear (formerly listed as Evergreen) II
House. Mid C19. Brick front wall, now painted, and flint end walls. Low pitch roof now covered with asbestos tiles. Grey gault brick stacks, including side stack with saw tooth projecting cornice. L-plan. Two storeys. Three recessed hung sashes of twelve panes each at first floor. Cambered arches to two similar windows on either side of doorway. Panelled door. Elliptical arch to carriageway entry with boarded, wooden doors. Adjoining at the rear is a range of outbuildings, including two storey C19 glass workshop. Framed, part weatherboarded and plastered. Pantiled. Two fixed light mullion windows to the workshop loft with original glazing. Pointed arches to leaded light windows at ground floor. Reset door with 1682 on frame. Two window panes inscribed 'Tom King married - day of 1848' and 'King and Howard began work in the year 1839' respectively. In 1842 the house was owned by George Ward, who also appears in the Kelly's Directory of this time asa glazier and plumber.
