Details

SX 07 NW ST KEW ST KEW HIGHWAY 5/228 St Catherines - GV II Row of 3 cottages now converted into 1 house. Circa early C19. Rendered and painted stone rubble with rag slate roof with gable ends. Brick chimney stacks on gable ends and 2 axial stacks heating 2 rooms of central cottage. Plan originally comprised a central cottage of 2 room and central entrance plan flanked by two 1-room cottages; the left-hand cottage with entrance probably leading to stair hall on right and the right-hand cottage a mirror image. Now converted into 1 house with entrance to central cottage blocked. 2 storeys, regular 4-window front with hornless sashes and crown glass. Left-hand cottage with lower roof than those on right, with C20 plank door on left and 16-pane sash on ground and first floor. Central cottage originally with symmetrical 2-window front; ground floor with two 16-pane sashes flanking blocked entrance with 16-pane and 6-pane sashes above. Right-hand cottage with entrance now in single storey outshut on right; 12-pane sash to left and 6-pane sash above. Interior not inspected. Forms part of terrace adjoining Filkins Cottage (qv) left-hand side.
